How to make money from CAD drawings
Make Money From CAD
CAD just stands for computer-aided design. This technology has changed the way a lot of people complete their work. CAD has helped a wide variety of professionals see new ideas and create new ideas all with a computer program. The need for people who can use these CAD software programs has increased greatly over the years. It is less expensive to look at a variety of ideas on a computer than with most other methods. With a CAD software program you can create nearly anything you want, such as blueprints for a building, designs for furniture, even lay out road markings, and so much more.
Here are some professionals who use CAD software programs or hire someone who does –
- Builders
- Architects
- Engineers
- Plumbers
- Landscape Architects
- Fashion Designers
- Interior Designers
- Carpenters
- And More
If you could learn how to use a CAD software program you would be a great asset to nearly any design or building business! You could become a CAD designer earning $25 per hour or more depending on your skill levels and your clients.
Begin your CAD designer business by downloading some free trial CAD software and teaching yourself how to use a variety of them. Some clients will prefer one CAD software program over others, so you should learn the most popular ones, or create an expertise in just one particular CAD software program. This learning process should take a few weeks so you can learn how to design and develop computer generated designs, blueprints, and more.
Your main expense will be in purchasing the proper CAD software program and then you can start to market your services to a variety of businesses. You can sign up for freelance websites and bid on projects for those who need CAD designers. You should get some business cards, set up some flyers in your local area, send out direct mail to your area, and set up a website for your business.
With your website you can create some designs just for show, because potential clients will want to see what you can do. Organize your designs on your website, offer some interesting information and resources for CAD designing, make it easy for potential clients to contact you via email, phone, fax, etc. You could do CAD designing in your spare time to get extra money or create a serious small business for yourself, the demand is there – you just need to supply the service!

RV Garage Plan #79 SDS g434 28’ x 38’ x 12’
Garage Plan of the Month #79 SDS g434 28′ x 38′ x 12′

We have just finished another garage plan. Here are the initial details from the custom order
- 28′x28′ garage
- 8″ stem wall foundation
- 12′ 2′x6′ stud walls
- Attic Trusses
- Pull down stairs for access to attic
- 1 – 10′x12′ garage door centered
- 2 - 3′ man doors – 1 on each side of garage 8′ from rear wall ( I think that my drawing shows it 8′ centered, but I would like the edge 8′ from back wall)
- 1 – 3′ man door on front wall near garage door, I would like minimum required space between garage door and man door, while allowing for electrical switches
- 1 – 3′ window in garage rear wall
- 1 – 3′ window in attic gable end
-
The electrical layout on the sample plan you send looked fine, use whatever layout you normally use.

Garage Apartment Plan of the Month #80 G423a Plans, 8002-123, 30’ x 30’ x 9’
Garage Plan of the Month #80 G423a Plans, 8002-123, 30′ x 30′ x 9′

#80 G423a Plans, 8002-123, 30′ x 30′ x 9′ detached garage with bonus room
Here are the origional specs for this garage plan with an apartment possibilty upstairs
We need a set of plans for a 30 x 30 with 9′ ceilings down in the garage. We’re using a set of bonus trusses we had built for the Schwers job so the bonus room is 15 1/2 feet wide, is 6′ 8″ high at the wing walls and I believe is 8′ 8″ in the center. Pitch is 10/12 with asphalt dimensional shingles. We’ll be putting rock on the front 40″ up the wall and it will have triple lap siding to match home. I’m attaching a few pictures. The stairs will be in the back left corner. They’ll have a 10′ wide x 30′ deep concrete slab on the right side (viewing from front)
In the front 30′ gable wall from the right there will be a 3′ 4″ return, then a 10′ x 8′ garage door, then a 3′ 4″ center, then a 10′ x 8′ garage door, then a 3′ 4″ return.
In the left 30′ wall from the rear there will be a 3′ man door as close to the stairs as possible. Then a 5030 window centered between the man door and front wall. We’ll be running a wall down the bottom of the stairs to separate the living quarters from the bonus room with another door (fire rated) to the garage.
In the back 30′ gable wall there will be a set of 6′ french doors 3′ from the right corner.
In the right 30′ wall there will be a 5030 window centered.
In the bonus room there will be a bathroom right beside where the stairs come up with a door that faces toward the front wall. The 4040 window will be centered in the front gable and in the rear it will be centered in the remaining wall at top of stairs with a thru-the-wall AC/heater under it.
